I did this as an "Identity" piece for my Introductory Graphic Design class. It is inspired by an artist named Jonathan Hickman (www.pronea.com).

I know it's reminiscent of sperm/egg and a jellyfish.

It looks cool, but I don't think it does a very good job of branding. There is too much going on... you know? Less is more or something. Keep working at it.
I understand completely and I will seriously think about changing it to what you're talking about, but at the same time it's a poster for my company/myself so I'm not sure if it's really meant to brand.
Maybe I'm just confused about what you mean.

I think I might get rid of the left and see how it looks.
